Sharing in Growth: helping BWT achieve its ambitious goals faster.
BWT is entering its fourth year in the Sharing in Growth Business Transformation programme and is close to completing a cycle where it has achieved leaner production methods and more cost-effective solutions.
BWT had been heavily invested in developing two new technologies: Additive Manufacturing and 3D NET Shape Performs. These applications go beyond ducting and BWT are confident they will play an integral part in increasing the UK’s share of the global aerospace market.
Demonstrating the culture of BWT’s continuous workforce improvement that SiG helped empower, one of BWT’s operators identified an opportunity to upgrade the current process that saves time, reduces rework and scrap, by utilising BWT’s in-house advanced AM technology.
BWT developed new 3D printed tooling to dramatically improve manufacturing productivity of an airflow control nozzle for a large military aircraft, following a strategic and collaborative design process which further underlines the company’s continuous progress towards lean manufacturing.
With the support of SiG, BWT is confident it will continue to advance its skills and lean production methods in the UK aerospace supply chain and looks forward to sharing more innovative solutions in the future.
